25

Last week we celebrated DJ's 25th Birthday!  We had lots of fun celebrating and spending time with family! The theme of this birthday seemed to be dinner and a movie.  We went out to dinner twice and saw two movies in one weekend!

On Thursday we went out for sushi, at Got Sushi, with Amber, Gary, Luke, Sherri and Brady.  We always have fun with the bunch of them.  (I unfortunately didn't get a picture with everyone).  The food was great along with the company.  The women who work there were really friendly.  They loved little Luke and kept trying to soothe him in their little asian accents when he was crying.  They also sang happy birthday to Deej when they brought him some ice cream.  They were cute.  After dinner we had birthday cake, then we went to see "The Help".  It was a really good movie that we both enjoyed.  It's one that will make you laugh one minute and make you cry the next.

DJ requested a marble bundt cake this year and that is just what he got

Then, on Saturday we celebrated with some of my family.  We went to a Korean BBQ where you cook your own food at your table.  It was really fun and yummy!  We definitely plan on going back.  After dinner we met up with Sherri and Brady to see "Planet of the Apes".  Not one that I was thrilled about seeing, but DJ was really excited to see it.  It was a good movie for what it was, but I don't plan on watching it again.

We had such a fun weekend and loved being able to spend lots of time with family.

I'm grateful for this wonderful man in my life and the fun we have together.  I love him so much!

He got new Ray Ban Aviators for his b-day

California

DJ and I got to spend all last week on the sunny beaches of California.  We went with my family on their annual family vacay to the San Clemente Inn.  We spent most of our time at the beach and loved every minute of it.  We were sad Tanner wasn't able to come this year, and that Cal had to leave early for Hawaii (she wasn't too sad about it) but we were glad to be able to spend some time with the family.

We enjoyed:
-tanning on the beach
-skim boarding and boogie boarding (DJ's first time)
-napping on the beach
-reading books
-gelato in San Diego
-Venice Beach
-the Santa Monica Pier
-the 75 degree weather!

June

I can't believe we're already half way through summer break!  Time has flown by and this vacation from school seems to be going a little too fast for me.  Deej and I have stayed busy and are definitely enjoying being out of school.  We're looking forward to getting out of the desert soon for a week in sunny California.  I unfortunately haven't photo documented all that we've been up to, but here are a few things that have been going on in our world lately.

  • ASU Gammage- we've been spending lots of time at Gammage this summer.  My sister Callie and I got tickets to see Mama Mia a few weeks ago.  Mame Mia was darling and very funny.  We had a lot of fun! And then DJ and I got tickets for Les Miserables as a Christmas gift from my mom and Dave.  It was my fist time seeing the play and all I can say is WOW!  We really loved it!  There are lots of talented people out there and the story line is truly inspiring.(Sadly Deej and I didn't get a pic together at Les Mis)

Cal and I at Mama Mia

  • Nephews and family-The last week of May, DJ's brother Calvin and sister-in-law Sanya got to go to Australia for two weeks so the family took turns watching their three boys.  We got to do lots of fun things like go swimming and play football.  We also went to the drive-in's and saw Kung Foo Panda 2.  Last week I got to hang out with the boys again and we went bowling, to the movies, and of course swimming.  I love being able to get to know these boys and their cute personalities.  They crack me up and we have lots of fun together.

  • DJ and I also have had lots of fun with Amber and Gary this summer.  As they were remodeling their apartment we were able to go and help out.  DJ mostly did the helping while I got to visit with  Amber. :) We also got to play lots and lots of Nerts.  We love these guys and I'm so grateful they live so close.  I feel that they are our best friends and I don't know what we'd do without them.  Right now they're in Prescott waiting for the arrival of their sweet baby boy.  We miss them A LOT, but we're so excited for them and the new journey they're about to embark on.  I can't wait to meet their cute baby boy!

Their baby is going to be the cutest!

  • School Stuff-DJ's applications for PA school have finally been sent to the school's he's applied to, so now all we have to do is wait.  We're excited to hear back from each school and we're learning to be patient.  I'm so proud of DJ and all the hard work he's done in making his goal a reality!I on the other hand have been studying.  In August I'm scheduled to take the GRE because this fall I'll be applying to a master's program in communication disorders.  I'm really nervous for the whole process, but I'm trying hard to do my best.  This year there will be lots of determiners that will map out our future for the next couple of years.  We're excited to see what the Lord has in store for us.

School's Out for the Summer

Last week DJ and I finished our last finals of the semester, which means it's summer time!  Callie also had her graduation last week on Thursday and Friday.  She was able to graduate with her Bachelor's degree in just three years (I'm so jealous) and will continue with her education in a Master's program in Health and Wellness in the fall. I was a little sad that we didn't get to graduate together since we've been doing things that way our whole lives, but we are so proud of her and were happy to be able to attend both of her graduation ceremonies.

We were happy for Callie and happy to be done with finals!  Woot woot!

I love my sister and I'm so proud of her.

February

We've been busy these past weeks mainly with school and work, but we've also managed to do some fun activities as well.

For Valentine's Day we went to a bike park and had a picnic.  The weather was beautiful and the park had a great bike path to Tempe Town Lake.

We were also able to go snowboarding up at Sunrise.  We stayed in Pine Top with Scott and Ashley at her parents house and brought Tanman along for the fun.  I had fun learning to carve down the mountain again with the expertise of Deej and Tan.  By lunch time the wind was blowing and the snow was falling hard so we decided to pack up and beat the snowy roads home.  We decided we must repeat the trip at least once every year.

Our biggest and best accomplishment in February was paying off all of our debt!  We are now debt free (until grad school)! Woot Woot!

one year

Last weekend DJ and I celebrated our first anniversary.

We went out for sushi and then to see the movie TRON in 3D.  The sushi from SUSHI Q was delicious and we both enjoyed the movie.

We've had lots of fun memories over this past year and are excited to make new ones in 2011!

I am so grateful for this sweet man and so in love with him!  I'm so grateful that families are forever!
